Our Pastors

Ernst Cochy

Lead Pastor

I can remember a time when ministry was very far from my mind. In fact if you told me that I would one day pastor a Church, I would have said ‘no way’! But today I am so proud to pastor Life Church, here in Brooklyn, NY. One of my greatest joys is seeing believers grow in their walk with Christ. I’ve personally discovered that life in Christ is truly the most fulfilling. I’m a proud husband and dad. Having my wife by my side makes this venture all the more fulfilling. We are honored that God would use us to lead such an awesome Church!

Lashan Cochy

I didn’t grow up in church, but when Jesus met me where I was, I grew up in His love. Needless to say my life was never the same! As a minster to the body of Christ and specifically a pastor at Life Church, my passion is to be a conduit to the love of Jesus, which will revolutionize your life and set you free!

Our Beliefs

The Bible is divinely inspired. In it we see that mankind and all of life was intelligently designed by God with a purpose. We believe that the Bible is inerrant, consistently revealing God’s desire for everyone to experience peace in Him.

2 Timothy 3:15-17; Acts 17:24-31

There is one God who has revealed Himself in three distinct ways: As the Father, The Son (Jesus Christ), and The Holy Spirit. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit is what the Bible calls the Godhead. Others have translated this as Trinity.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23, 14:10, 16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; James 2:19

Everyone is born a sinner. Everyone is born with a spiritual nature that is opposite of God’s. This all occurred starting with the first sin, committed by Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were the first people to be created. Prior to disobeying God they enjoyed perfect harmony with Him, living in complete absence from sin. One day however, their willful disobedience to God brought about sin and death, which would spread to all of mankind. As such, each person is born a sinner, each person is in need of forgiveness and redemption.

Romans 5:12-17

Jesus Christ was sent by God as the Son of God. He was supernaturally conceived and born of a virgin, Mary. He lived on earth for a period of 33 years. He lived a sinless life and taught and ministered to people through miracles, signs and wonders. Though righteous, He was crucified and condemned to a sinner’s death. He arose on the third day and is alive forevermore. It was the Father’s plan to allow Jesus to be the sacrificial lamb for all of mankind.

Mark 16:15-16; John 1:12, 3:16, 36, 5:24; Acts 2:21, 4:12, 16:30-31; Romans 1:16-18, 3:23-25, 5:8-10, 6; 1 Corinthians 1:18, 15:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Galatians 2:20, 3:13; Ephesians 2:8-10; Philippians 2:12-13; Hebrews 9:24-28; Revelation 3:20

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is God and dwells in all those who have received Jesus Christ as their savior. The Holy Spirit has three main responsibilities:

  1. To convict the world of their sin apart from God.
  2. To affirm to those who have placed their faith in Christ that they are eternally secure
  3. To demonstrate God’s active power over the defeated enemy of mankind, Satan.

John 16:7-8

It is the plan of God for every believer to be baptized with the Holy Spirit.  This was the normal experience in the early church.  This experience empowers you as a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ.  The initial filling of the Holy Spirit is expressed by the speaking of tongues, as the Spirit gives the power to speak.

Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, Acts 2:4

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

John 3:16, 36; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25; 5:11-13; Revelation 20:15
